Salvia microphylla ‘Cerise Velvet’
This vigorous plant, one of the tallest of the S. microphylla clones at 140cm tall by as much wide, carries from late spring into summer and autumn masses of glowing cerise flowers. During winter shear and shape this plant to a round shrub about 80cm by 80cm. It doesn’t respond well to any heavier pruning. ‘Cerise Velvet’ is happy in any sunny well drained spot and whilst it tolerates drought it is happier for a few supplementary waterings during hot dry spells.
