2025 Chelsea Flower Show

Two Glenns took starring roles in the 2025 Chelsea Flower Show.

My eldest son, Ric Glenn, is the Grounds and Gardens Manager at the Royal Hospital Chelsea where the Chelsea Flower Show is held. As most gardeners would know, this show is the most prestigious garden event in the world. The display gardens are superb, and the competition is fierce.

This year the Royal Hospital, for the first time ever, put on their own display. The London Square Chelsea Pensioners Garden was awarded a gold medal. Ric was the organising force behind this garden which was designed by Dave Green. At the completion of the show the garden will be moved to a permanent home in the Prince of Wales Court in the grounds of the hospital. More information on the gold medal-winning garden here

More surprising was the appearance of Salvia nemorosa ‘Kate Glenn’, spotted by Lambley staff member, Marnie, who was watching the BBC coverage on the Show when Carol Klein, during a roundup of ‘garden stalwarts’ showed this Salvia, which was raised here at Lambey many years ago and named for my daughter. To my mind, this Salvia is the best of all the nemorosas, as it flowers with us from November until May with a little judicious dead heading.
