Salvia africana ‘Smoothie’
A smooth leaved form of this very tough shrub, native to coastal areas of the Cape Provinces of South Africa, makes a dense plant clothed in hairless grey-green leaves. It produces quite lovely pale blue flowers for most of the year, even during winter months. As happy in inland gardens as it is in coastal gardens it needs a well-drained spot in full sun to be happy. Very drought tolerant when once established it will cope happily in tough areas of the garden where other plants would struggle to survive.
