Golden Larch

Whilst superficially looking like a larch this deciduous tree, native to a small area of western China, is related to Abies and Cedrus. Best grown in parks or large gardens where it will make a fine specimen growing in time some 30 metres tall and 8 metres wide. Golden larch was introduced into western gardens by Robet Fortune in 1853. During spring the foliage is yellow green, later turning to green and then in late autumn a rich golden yellow.
