As the cultivar name suggests ‘Nigra’ is best noted for its purplish black flower stems which contrast well with its flowers and foliage. If grown in acid soils the large mophead flowers are blue and rose-pink in alkaline soils. ’Nigra’ can be grown in large pots as well as in the garden. Its best planted in light shade, but is happy enough in a sunny spot as long as the soil is kept moist. 150cm tall x 120cm wide.
