Nachtigall is German for nightingale. Hydrangea ‘Nachtigall’ is an elegant lace cap which in acid soils has the most beautiful blue flowers. In more alkaline soils the flowers are quite a strong purple. A vigorous grower it will flower from spring until well into autumn. Best grown in a spot away from hot winds and kept well-watered during dry periods it will grow 1.2- 1.4 metres tall by as much across.
