Delphinium ‘Pink Princess’

Pink Princess

Delicate in colour yet every bit as impressive in the garden, this charming Mini Delphinium bears soft pale pink flowers with a crisp white bee. As the first single-coloured release from the celebrated New Millennium breeding programme in New Zealand, it captures all the elegance of its taller relatives in a naturally compact plant, making it ideal for pots, patios and the front of the border.

We grew these delightful perennial delphiniums in our own garden years ago, where they proved irresistible to visitors. Their neat, upright flower spikes create an enchanting display and are perfectly suited to smaller gardens, containers and the front of sunny borders.

Flowering from November through to the end of April, they reward good cultivation with an exceptionally long season of colour. Remove spent flower spikes as they fade to encourage repeat flowering. At Lambley, we cut our plants back to the ground after the first flush in early January and, within just a few weeks, they produce a fresh display of elegant blooms.

Grow in full sun or light afternoon shade in fertile, well-drained soil with regular summer irrigation. Plants generally reach 60–80 cm in their first year, becoming a little taller and even more floriferous in their second season.
