A magnificent plant for associating with shrub roses, it thrives anywhere, even in unkempt grassy areas.” G.S. Thomas wrote in his book Perennial Garden Plants. A native of the Caucasus it was introduced into English gardens in 1814. In our harsher Australian climate it is best given a spot away from hot winds in good soil which isn’t allowed to parch during dry weather. Height 120 to 140cm width 60-80cm.
