This RHS Award of Garden Merit plant is a native of the American prairies which has made itself at home here at Ascot in the dry Central Victorian plains. During early spring, asparagus-like shoots pierce the earth and quickly develop into stiff, upright leafy stems which, by mid-spring through to summer, carry deep violet-blue lupin-like flowers. The grey seed pods are also attractive. It seems happy in any sunny well drained spot and when established needs very little supplementary watering. 100cm by 60cm.
