Abutilon x hybridum ‘Pink Clouds’
Not normally a genus given much attention nor much love at Lambley but the flowers of Abutilon ‘Pink Clouds’ are so lovely that we have overcome our prejudice. These garden hybrids have been taken out of the genus Abutilon and placed in the genus Callianthe. The word Callianthe is derived from Greek roots and roughly translated means beautiful flower. Be that as it may this long flowering shrub is worth a place in any garden. If left alone it will grow quite large but with judicious pruning can be kept to a manageable 180cm tall by as much across. It’s happy growing in sun or light shade as long as it is given a little extra waterings during dry periods.
