Teucrium marum
Cat Thyme
Always abuzz with bees when flowering, this drought tolerant Germander makes a dense twiggy grey foliaged little shrublet covered in summer with masses of magenta flowers on short spikes. It is a very tough, drought tolerant, heat loving Mediterranean plant with few wants except a light trim after flowering. For many years we have grown it in our dry climate garden as a shrubby groundcover amongst low growing Yucca filamentosa, but it wasn’t until we undertook to plant it as two mirrored double rows did we discover how well it performs if given a little irrigation. 30cm x 45cm.
