Campanula poscharskyana

Campanulaceae

Campanula poscharskyana

Serbian Bellflower

This rather neglected Campanula, native to the Dinaric Alps, is one of the best plants to grow in those super difficult dry areas under trees and shrubs. It even flourishes in dense shade. Making a carpet of round, dark green, heart shaped leaves it “… trails out stiff arms, perfectly smooth, carrying large numbers of long-stalked flowers in loose axillary racemes.” The star shaped flowers, a clear lavender- blue, appear very early in the season. When, after a few months, this first flush of blooms is spent the plant can be cut back hard. It will repay this effort with another display. Campanula poscharskyana received the coveted Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1933 soon after it was introduced into cultivation. 25cm tall by 50cm width when in flower.

We apologise that this plant is currently sold out.
