With its huge 20cm diameter globes of metallic purple stars this is one of the most beautiful of all bulbs. Growing wild on rocky hillsides in Central Asia and Iran this ornamental onion needs to be kept dry during summer. It makes a very good pot specimen as the flower stems are short and sturdy. It also is a good cut flower which dries well. 40cm by 30cm. Seed is best sown during late March or early April.
