Deep maroon petals make a startling contrast with the ice white sepals. The flowers are many on each thin wiry stem. New spring leaves are copper coloured, turning to deep green as the season progresses. The divided evergreen foliage is handsome for most of the year but is best cut to the ground during mid-winter as the spring flowers and new foliage make a lovely combination. Epimediums are woodland plants and most need a moisture retentive soil in a light to medium shaded spot. Height of foliage clumps 30cm width 40cm.
