‘Black Magic’ is a new and improved variety of Black Tuscan kale. It has very dark leaves which are deeply savoyed. It’s best grown as a full size plant and seed should be sown from November until January for an autumn and winter harvest.
One of the best kale varieties for baby leaf and also good full size. The tender leaves can be used in salads and also cooked. They need less cooking than other kale types. Sow from August until April.
Makes a handy autumn and winter vegetable if seed is planted during November. I can pick a couple of bunches every week from May until September off half a dozen plants. Reputed to be good for baby leaf at any time although I haven’t grown it like that yet.
This is one of the best if not the best performing open pollinated purple kohlrabi. Azur Star produces round purple skinned white fleshed bulbs with excellent flavour. Slow to bolt the bulbs are best eaten at 5 to 8cm size.
