Zinnia elegans ‘Mazurkia’

This new strain of Zinnia was also a winner of the Fleuroselect Novelty award in 2012. It carries scarlet flowers tipped with cream on a strong 60cm tall plant. Great for the garden as well as cut flowers.

When to sow: November-December
Where to sow: Direct in a prepared garden bed when the weather warms up.
Depth to sow: 1/2cm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants: 40-50cm

Directions: Zinnias must be direct seeded into the garden. Plant 3 seeds per station when the weather warms up (mid-November here at Lambley) in well-drained soil in a sunny spot. Thin to the strongest seedling when the first true leaves appear. Zinnias start to flower in January and produce well into April. They are especially good as a cut flower as well as being bright and cheerful garden subjects.
