Native to Brazil and Argentina this tough plant, although native to Brazil and Argentina is both frost and drought hardy and will keep flowering even in the most torrid of summers. In good conditions it will grow 60cm tall by 50cm across but will be smaller in harsher conditions. A tough trouble-free species which is affected neither by mildew nor blistering heat. In the Lambley garden it comes into its own during summer and autumn as its dark violet-purple flower heads make a brilliant display.
