Verbena bonariensis
Verbena bonariensis is one of those wonderful see-through plants. The 160cm tall, rigid stems are thin enough to allow the eye to see through them to other plants and flowers in the border beyond. These stems are topped by large heads of fragrant small mauve-purple flowers from spring until winter. Butterflies and bees are both attracted to the flowers. Purple top vervain is drought tolerant when once established. It will self-sow in the garden but this isn’t a problem. Height 160cm width 30cm.
