Sedum spectabile ‘Brilliant’

The late Dennis Norgate was a good friend of David Glenn for many years. At his nursery in Trentham, Victoria, he grew many fine plants which if not for his care would have been lost to Australian gardeners. One such was Sedum ‘Brilliant’. G.S.Thomas in his book Perennial garden Plants describes S. spectabile thus “The fleshy, glaucus-grey clump of leaves is beautiful throughout the summer and each stem produces a large flat head  of tiny starry flowers in chalky mauve pink. …..’Brilliant’ is a selected clone of more vivid and decisive colourïng.”     The flowers green in bud slowly age to pink and then by autumn to deep rose-red. Happy in any sunny spot in the garden. 45cm tall by as much across.
