Salvia lavandulifolia
This plant of dry Spanish, French and north-west African hillsides is a beautiful relative of the culinary sage. S. lavandulifolia makes an evergreen shrub some 60cm tall by 80cm across. It is well clothed grey-green leaves and during spring produces 30cm tall stems of large, soft mauve-blue flowers. Spanish sage is happy in any sunny well drained spot and is drought tolerant when once established.
