This sage is thought to be endemic to southern Africa and occurs over a wide range from the Western Cape through the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Swaziland to Mpumalanga. In the garden it forms a spreading herbaceous plant to 1.2m from a height of approximately 15cm bearing sweetly pungent leaves. Soft blue flowers are produced in whorls and are popular with garden pollinators inluding butterflies and bees. Some moderate summer watering is best in a sunny well-drained or raised bed.
