Salvia apiana
Salvia apiana is native to the chaparral and desert regions of southern California and adjacent parts of Mexico. Revered by the original inhabitants of these areas for its ability to “… purify or bless people, places or objects.” When burnt, its ”smoke is believed to cleanse negative energy and promote healing and spiritual connection”. In the garden S. apiana is a tough drought tolerant shrub grown for its very handsome, fragrant, silvery white foliage and white, bee attracting flowers. Unhappy with summer wet it is best grown in areas with dry summers and then planted in a dryish spot. Height 90cm by as much across.
