Pycnosorus globosus ‘Paintball Poppy’
This Australian native has a wide distribution in the eastern half of Australia. ‘Paintball Poppy’ has much larger flower heads and has taller and stronger stems than the wildling. Although bred for the commercial cut flower market it is an easily grown perennial. From clumps of grey, grassy, evergreen foliage, 90cm tall stems carry extra-large, slightly elongated balls of warm yellow flowers. Each flower head lasts a good two weeks if cut for a vase. ‘Paintball Poppy’ will flower from quite early in the spring until well into the summer. Height in flower 90cm width 45cm.
