Phlomis fruticosa ‘Ascot Gold’

Ascot Gold Jerusalem Sage

This superb form of Jerusalem sage was grown by Lambley from seed collected from wild plants growing on the Anatolian Plateau in Turkeye. The most commonly grown form of Phlomis fruticosa in Australian gardens is a scruffy shrub which even with the greatest of attention, is determined to stay scruffy. ‘Ascot Gold’ on the other hand, is a handsome small shrub, well-clothed in grey green leaves and producing, for several spring months, a fine show of egg yolk yellow, talon like flowers held in whorls on 30cm stems. The flowers are displayed well above the foliage.
