G.S. Thomas, in his book Perennial Garden Plants describes Morina longifolia thus:-
“An elegant plant. The basal leaves are fragrant, slightly prickly and thistle-like, and form a rich green rosette. Stout stems bear whorls of hooded tubular flowers, white turning to clear rose and later to crimson after fertilization, set in thorny collars.” In the past it has been happy in the Lambley gardens and we are thrilled to have it again. It is happy in full sun or light shade as long as it doesn’t parch during dry periods. When well grown it will make 90cm tall needing a spacing of 30cm.
