“A refreshing coolth in its glaucous foliage and tall spires of pale flowers in the hot summer days.”
A.T. Johnson
This denizen of south west Europe and north Africa is the most noble species in the genus. Grey-green, leathery leaves clothe stiff stems to the base of the flower. The long lasting, white flowers are carried on “ …slender, erect, dense spikes.” The seeds heads are an added attraction. The plant itself is clump forming and doesn’t run. Best grown in a sheltered even lightly shaded spot which isn’t allowed to p[arch during dry weather. It will eventually grow 100cm tall by 60 cm wide.
