This stunner from the far reaches of northern China and Mongolia was grown beautifully by a young Michael McCoy when he was head gardener at Hascombe, high up on Mount Macedon. “Elegant, decorative, deeply fingered, dark green leaves of otherwise rounded outline extend up the nearly black stems, ending in a narrow spire of small clear yellow flowers”. G.S. Thomas in his book Perennial Garden Plants. Not the easiest subject for Australian gardens but worth every effort, the Leopard Plant needs rich, well-nurtured soil in a sheltered light to medium shaded spot which is kept moist throughout the season. Height up to 150cm width 100cm.
