Lettuce, Red Butterhead ‘Skyphos’ (Lactuca sativa)

Far and away the best red butterhead available. Quick growing with tender, sweet, deep burgundy and cream hearts. A favourite at Lambley. I’ve only just started growing this superb variety. It has a sweet excellent flavour and a soft texture. Whilst quick to mature it’s slow to bolt and is the surest heading of the red butterheads. The yellow-green centres contrast nicely with the red exteriors. Can be planted all year round except perhaps winter in inland gardens.
