This gorgeous tea tree appeared in a batch of Leptospermum spectabile seedlings at the renowned Bywong Nursery in Bungendore NSW. The large 2cm across bright pink flowers densely cover arching branches clothed in lush green foliage. Although L. ‘Aphrodite’ can grow up to two metres tall by as much across it can be kept much smaller with a judicious prune after it has finished its spring blossoming. Evergreen, fast growing and needing just a little extra irrigation when once established it is smothered in its ‘wax flowers’ for a prolonged spring period. It attracts lots of pollinating insects and makes a very useful cut flower. Happy in sun or light shade.
