Raised by Lambley 35 years ago from seed collected in the Peloponnese in southern Greece by Jim and Jenny Archibald. ‘Mia’ looks for all the world like a miniature, deep violet blue flowered form of the common Algerian Iris unguicularis, although unlike the latter, the flowers are held well above its narrow, strap-like leaves. This little Iris gives so much reward for so little effort. It thrives in almost any position in the garden except dense shade. The fragrant flowers, produced in succession from May until September, last well in water if they are picked ‘in pencil’ just before they unfurl. 30cm x 30cm.
