Hibiscus paramutabilis
Hibiscus paramutabilis is a superb frost hardy hibiscus only very recently brought into cultivation in western gardens from its Chinese homeland. It will grow into a 180cm tall and 140cm wide shrub and produces large, rich dark rose-pink flowers from mid-summer until quite late into autumn. One of the best summer flowering shrubs it is fairly drought tolerant although better for some summer irrigation and is happy in a reasonably fertile sunny spot.
