Where to sow: Direct sow

Depth to sow: 1/2cm

Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.

Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.

Spacing: Between plants 15cm Between rows 45cm

Directions: During January and February sow two or three seeds 1/2cm deep every 15cm in rows which are 45cm apart. After germination thin to one seedling taking care not to disturb the seedling which is left. Any disturbance can cause the fennel to run up to seed prematurely. Keep the beds well-watered and clean of weeds.
