Eros makes heavy, dense, lettuce-like heads of mildly bitter leaves which are suitable for salads, sautéing or for making soup.
When to sow: August until February.
Where to sow: In a seed tray or direct in a prepared garden bed.
Depth to sow: 5mm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants 30cm; Between rows 30cm
Directions: Raising plants in seed trays and planting out when 5cm tall brings good results in growing full size endives. They can also be sown straight into their permanent position in a prepared garden bed.
