Echinops ritro
Echinops ritro has been gracing English gardens for more than two hundred years. More compact than ‘Veitch’s Blue’ it will produce its steel blue flowers over clumps of jagged leaves for many months of spring and summer. This native of southern Europe and Turkey is best grown in a sunny spot. Whilst quite drought hardy it is better for a little extra watering during dry periods. The flower stems grow 50cm tall and a spacing of 35cm is recommended.
