Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Mist’
Though there are taller species, cultivars of Echinops bannaticus make the tallest of flowering stems for use in a perennial border. ‘Blue Mist’ has steel-blue buds which open to large powdery mauve-blue spherical flower heads. Bold divided foliage, stiff vertical stems and the drumstick flower heads give this plant great architectural strength. These are by far and away the most commented upon plants in our borders. Rarely offered. Full sun and deeply friable soil for best results but will tolerate a range of conditions. Herbaceous and frost tolerant. 120cm x 75cm.
