Doronicum orientale ‘Magnificum’
This perennial from southeast Europe and nearby Turkey is a plant of moist hillsides and woodlands. When happy, as it was in the late Zoe Minotti’s Geelong garden, it is one of the most refined of all daisies. Flowering in Spring, its many deep lemon ‘petals’ are narrow and slightly curved giving the flower a grace which is lacking in most daisies. The foliage of this variety is dark glossy green. Best grown in good, moist soil in light to medium shade, D. ‘Magnificum’ will make 30-50cm tall flower stems and 40-50cm wide foliage clumps.
