This creamy yellow foxglove inhabits southern European and Turkish hills where it grows on bushy slopes and areas left after logging. Soundly perennial, this Digitalis carries creamy yellow bells, the throat speckled crimson, on 60cm tall stems. Digitalis grandiflora appears in Gerard’s Herbal published in 1597 ’We have in our garden another sort, which bringeth forth most pleasant yellow floures.” This award-winning plant is best grown in a moist well drained spot in either partial shade or full sun. D. grandiflora ‘Carillon’ was endowed with the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
