Soft and luminous, Delphinium ‘Sunny Skies’ produces graceful spires of mid sky-blue flowers, each beautifully marked with a contrasting white bee. This fine selection combines beautiful colouring with a stronger perennial habit and larger flowers, making it a rewarding choice for both the garden border and the vase.
Growing to around 1–1.2 metres, Sunny Skies is perfectly proportioned for the perennial border, where its gentle blue tones blend beautifully with a wide range of garden colours. Its sturdy flower spikes bring a lovely sense of height and structure while also making excellent cut flowers.
Beginning its display in late spring and continuing well into autumn, Sunny Skies offers months of graceful colour in the garden. With prompt removal of spent flower spikes, it rewards the gardener with further blooms. At Lambley, we cut our plants back after the first flush in early January and are rewarded within weeks with a fresh succession of elegant flower spikes.
Grow in full sun or light afternoon shade in fertile, well-drained soil with regular summer irrigation. Given good garden conditions, this outstanding perennial will provide years of spectacular displays.
