Called Hattie’s Pincushion as the flowers “look like a mass of pins stuck into a central cushion… surrounding the cushion is a ring of pointed papery bracts.” These white, green-tipped, subtle, exquisite flowers are held well above dense clumps of palmate leaves. ‘Snow Star’ blooms during late spring and early summer. If cut back hard after the first flush a second blooming will take place during late summer and early autumn. Astrantias are best grown in fertile soil in a lightly shaded spot which isn’t allowed to parch during dry weather. Height 80cm width 40cm.
