Aster alpinus ‘Goliath’
This tufted evergreen perennial grows wild in the European Alps and Pyrenees. A rock garden or front of the border plant it does best in well nurtured moist soil in sun or light shade where it will make tufted dark green mats topped with large violet-mauve flowers in spring. Height 15cm width 30cm. Aster alpinus has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden merit. This honour is given to plant of outstanding garden merit.
