Arenaria montana ‘Summer Lemon’
This new variety is a distinct break from the wild, summer blooming, Spanish species with its snow-white flowers. ‘Summer Lemon’ has 10 cent sized blooms which are lemon in bud opening to very pale lemon. The mat of deep green foliage disappears under a mass of flowers from early spring until summer. It flowers sporadically at other times. Height 12cm width 40cm or more. Happy in any sunny or lightly shaded spot and fairly drought tolerant once established. Arenaria montana was granted the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. This award is only given to outstanding garden plants.
