Agapanthus pallidus
This old evergreen Dutch variety has lined both sides of the drive at Lambley for a quarter of a century. It never fails to impress beginning its long flowering period in November, at its best at Christmas and carrying on its display into February. At Lambley it produces countless thousands of medium sized heads of silver blue flowers on 90cm tall stems. The narrow foliage is completely frost hardy here unlike many other evergreen Agapanthus. In 25 years the foliage clumps have made some 60cm tall by 90cm across.
