Viburnum carlesii
Korean Spice viburnum
This, one of the most beautiful of all Viburnums, has been difficult to source in Australia even though it has been grown here for at least 60 years. It grows best in a moist, well drained, sheltered spot protected from hot summer winds. 160cm tall by as much across.
The late E.E. Lord wrote in his book Shrubs and Trees for Australian Gardens, “This is one of the loveliest shrubs in cultivation. Clusters of snow-white flowers from pink buds open in early spring with a sweet fragrance that no other shrub surpasses.”
