Mandevilla laxa
Frost Hardy Chilean Jasmine
Unlike all other Mandevillas this one tolerates frost. I’ve grown this vigorous climber on an old shearing shed here at Lambley for 17 years. Each summer and autumn a succession of giant jasmine-like flowers, with a delicious fragrance somewhere between a gardenia and a tuberose, are produced. Our plant has clambered up 3 metres and has a spread about the same. Sun or light shade.
