This wonderful Iris has been cultivated for at least five hundred years. G.S.Thomas in his book Perennial Garden Plants describes it as having “….. typical flowers of the Bearded Iris class, silky, crinkled and of a clear, light lavender-blue with golden imperials, and deliciously scented. It retains the beauty of its exceptionally grey foliage until autumn and is therefore a valuable landscape plant.” I. pallida flowers in our garden during October and November and is happy in any sunny spot. Unlike modern bearded iris it can be left undivided for many years and still flower well. 90cm tall by 60cm wide.
