Chaenomeles cathayensis

Rare in cultivation, Maule's quince is a vigorous deciduous shrub or small tree growing to 4 or 5 metres tall with a spread of 4 metres. During spring it produces large pink flushes of white flowers. The flowers are followed by delicious, apple sized fruits which should be harvested when they turn yellow and have a pink blush. Cook these fruits as you would common or garden quinces.
