Farao is a delicious spring cabbage quickly making 1kg heads from a late winter planting. It takes summer heat very well too so a late spring planting is worthwhile. When to sow: Late-winter to late spring
Where to sow: Seed tray, pots or in a garden seed bed
Depth to sow: 1/2cm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil:Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants 30cm; Between rows 30cm x 40cm
Directions: If grown under cover when the first two true leaves appear harden the seedlings off by taking them outside on a cool cloudy day. Keep watered. When the seedlings are 6-8cm tall plant in the garden. First remove the seed leaves (cotyledons) and plant up to the first set of true leaves. Water in. If seed is planted in outside seed beds transplant when seedlings are 6-8cm tall.
