Broccoli ‘Amadeus’ F1 (Brassica oleracea)
For late winter and spring planting for harvesting spring, summer, and autumn. It produces large heads here which were followed by lots of side shoots. I picked heads from one planting over a period of ten weeks.
When to sow: Late winter through spring
Where to sow: In seed trays or in a drill in a prepared garden bed.
Depth to sow: 5mm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants 35 to 40cm
Between rows 60cm
Directions: We sow broccoli seed in three ways. The early Amadeus broccoli is sown in seed trays on bottom heat from mid-August until early November. Another method is to plant a 5mm deep drill in outside seed beds and then transplant six weeks later into the final position.
