Aster laevis ‘Calliope’
A plant of mostly dry ground in the eastern parts of the USA, this species does well for us. Aster ‘Calliope’ was raised in the 1890s at the RHS gardens and is more elegant in flower than most Easter daisies. It makes 90cm tall black stems which are clothed in large bluish-green glossy leaves. Heads of nicely spaced lilac-blue flowers are produced during later summer and autumn. 90cm x 60cm. Sun.
