Deep Purple Granny Bonnets

This dark purple variety could well have been growing in our garden here for a hundred years. It is very like the wild form of this species. Free flowering and self sowing it will grow 60cm tall by 40 cm across. Happy in sun or light shade.

 

When to sow: Spring to autumn

Where to sow: In seed trays or in situ

Depth to sow: 5mm

Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.

Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.

Spacing: Between plants: 40cm

 

Directions: Sow seeds in seed trays or plugs. Can be direct sown into the garden into a prepared soil.
